
Bill Shaltis is Principal Timpani of the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to this appointment, Shaltis was Principal Percussion/Assistant Timpani of the Evansville Philharmonic and Owensboro Symphony. Shaltis has performed with the Kansas City, Utah, Portland (ME), Lansing, Jackson (MI), and Detroit Civic Symphonies, as well as Boston Baroque, Handel & Haydn Society, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Musica Viva, Granite State Opera, Orchestra Kentucky, and the Aspen and Atlantic Music Festivals. Shaltis has performed timpani concerti with the Boise Philharmonic, Evansville Philharmonic, University of Evansville, and Jackson Concert Band.
Shaltis currently teaches at Missouri Southern State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Prior to his move to Missouri, he was the Consortium Instructor of Percussion at the University of Evansville. Other notable teaching opportunities include the Interlochen Arts Camp, presenting at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, and several masterclasses across the United States.
